History of Greensboro
Greensboro was a settled place before it was founded. Locals have traded, hunted and camped here for centuries. Most of the early settlers of Greensboro were of the Quakers of welsh, Germany, Welsh and English descent, but permanent settlement began around 1740. In 1808 it became the seat of the county, named General Nathaniel Green, who defeated the British army by commanding the US Army, during the American Revolution on March 15,1781. The first meeting of the civil rights movement was set up in 1960 at the lunch counter in Greensboro. Now this city is a large wholesale distribution point, an agrarian market, and a significant protection community.
